Setting Up Your Email Account in Outlook 2002These instructions will help you setup your email account in Microsoft Outlook 2002, which is a part of Microsoft Office XP. Customers' email addresses end in one of the following three domains:
Locating Account ConfigurationIn the main Outlook 2002 window, go to the Tools menu and select E-mail Accounts. The E-mail Accounts window will open.
Deleting Old AccountsIt may be helpful to delete old and incorrectly configured email accounts before adding new ones. To do so, first select View or change existing e-mail accounts.
Repeat these steps for other accounts you want to delete.
Creating a New AccountIn the main Outlook 2002 window, go to the Tools menu and select E-mail Accounts. The E-mail Accounts window will open.
Select Add a new e-mail account.
For Server Type Select POP3.
For Your name: Enter your real name. When you email other people, this is the name they will see in the "From" line of your messages. For E-mail address: Enter your full email address. For Incoming mail server (POP3):
For Outgoing mail Server (SMTP):
For User Name: If your email address ends in clergy.net, your username is your full email address, i.e. username@clergy.net. Otherwise, your username is the first part of your email address (before the @ sign). Enter your password in the Password box. Check the Remember password checkbox. Make sure that Log on using Secure Password Authentication is not checked. Important: For outgoing mail you must set up authentication. Click on the More button at the bottom. Check the box My server requires authentication. Now OK out of the box and/or click Next to go to the next step.
Click the Finish button.
You should now be able to check your mail by clicking the Send/Recv button on the toolbar.
